Shepilov, Dmitri Trofimovich (1905–1995)

Soviet politician. He was editor-in-chief of Pravda in 1952–6, then foreign minister from June 1956 to February 1957. He became an alternate member of the Presidium of the CPSU and a Central Committee secretary in 1955, but in June 1957, sacked and removed from the Central Committee by a plenary session, for his part in a plot to remove Nikita Khrushchev.
